Importance of Integrating Technology
I think that having technology in a classroom no matter how much of it is available will be beneficial for all of the students involved. I think that it is important for the teachers to be the ones making these decisions because they are the ones that see the children every day and know what they need. Before the teachers get to make this decision however I feel that they shouldn’t be allowed to make this decision until they are knowledgeable about the technology and can teach their students. It wouldn’t be fair to the students if their teachers were learning with them or couldn’t answer their questions. To receive funding think you should have to put the time in to learn about them even if you think you already know everything. I think that right now they aren’t included in the decision making because the people who do make the decisions don’t think that they wouldn’t know what was right for their students, when really they are. I feel that teachers should be more involved even if they have to sit in a classroom to learn about it, it would be beneficial to the students in the long run.
Technology that I am familiar with
By taking EDN 300 I have learned so much more about basic technology that I personally thought that I knew everything about. I have learned more about researching and finding different websites. I learned how to use the spreadsheet better. After viewing the tutorial that was available through END 300 it showed me how easy it would be to have my grade book on there. It can average grades, get class averages, and do letter grades. I will definitely be using it in my classroom. By creating a software/hardware budget it should be what you really need in a classroom to allow the students to learn about technology also. When I saw that we were going to have to make a power point I thought I knew everything. I learned that it is a good resource in testing the children which is another way to see if they understand the work and are comprehending it. Finally I know how to make movies using the Microsoft movie maker. I have seen so many other teachers use it and wondered how they figured out how to use it, but after taking this class I can make and publish a movie with the best of them and is a fun way to change up how you teach something new to your students.
